American Diabetes Month
Diabetes is one of the leading causes of disability and death in the United States. 1 in 11 Americans have diabetes, which comes out to being more than 23 million people. And another 84 million adults in the United States are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
To raise awareness about diabetes and healthy living, Halo Home Care is proudly participating in American Diabetes Month. In California, 55% of the state's population has been diagnosed with either diabetes or prediabetes.
Depending on your age, weight, and other factors, you may be at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The good news is that making healthy changes can greatly lower your risk. To help prevent type 2 diabetes: watch your weight, eat healthy, and get more physical activity.
If you have already been diagnosed, then: make and eat healthy food, be active most days, test your blood sugar often, take medicines as prescribed, learn ways to manage stress, cope with the emotional side of diabetes, and go to checkups.
